Well, I ran into a somewhat similar issue of all windows endlessly reloading, after starting Adobe Illustrator CS5.1. Again, only stopping AWM allowed to work. I bought DisplayFusion Pro in consequence and it allows to me to work under the discussed circumstances, while providing all the functionality of AWM of interest to me. Lack of any reaction from the AWM developers played a role there too.
