I don't know if there is anything you can do about it, but I figured I would report it.
The AWM Taskbar doesn't play nice with Spotify. Spotify works fine on the regular taskbar, but on the AWM it is slow to respond. Sometimes AWM fails to capture it's task icon corrently. (IE: I have Spotify pinned to the AWM taskbar, but sometimes I end up with two Spotify icons.)
AWM does seem to get Spotify under control, it just seems to take a little more processing (which hangs the whole taskbar momentarily) every time I try to do something with Spotify.
Let me know if I can provide any more info.

What OS are you running (version, x32 or x64)?
What version of Spotify do you use?
Could you give me a step-by-step description of how to reproduce these problems?

I'm on Win7 Pro 64.
Spotify 0.6.2.243
This happens most often when I leave Spotify running for an extended period of time. Whether it is minimized or not doesn't seem to make a difference. I'll try to keep track of the amount of time more exactly, but an educated guess would at least an hour or so.

Right click actions are slow to respond. (Right click - quit, right click - play recent track, etc.)
The problem occurs anytime I have Spotify open for more than an hour or so.
