I am trying to drag a maximized window from one monitor to another and have it go back to a maximized state on the target monitor.  I don't want to have to snap it to the top of the target monitor to make it maximize.  Is this a feature, and if so how do I enable it?  I can make it work in Ultramon and DisplayFusion, but am having no luck with AMM.

This is a deal breaker for me, as it is the most common feature I use.

Thanks.

Hello Dan H

What our product are you running (name, version)?

There are several easier ways to move the maximized window to other monitor and preserve the maximized state. You can use the "Move to Monitor" title button or the window menu item. Also you can set the custom mouse action like Alt + middle button click on the title bar to move the window (Mouse > Actions).

Let me know if you need further assistance.

Best regards.

Actual Multiple Monitors 5.0.3
Windows 7 64 Ultimate

I don't like the title button as I feel it is too many clicks and gestures compared to dragging.  However, this reminds me about using a hotkey or mouse button to move windows to previous/next monitors so I will try to get used to that. I have a 4 monitors, 3 across and one top/center.  So sometimes just dragging it is more intuitive.  Is this a feature that is not working on my PC?  Or is it simply not a feature of AMM?

There is no such ability to drag maximized windows with preserving the maximized state in our programs.

You can move the windows much easily using the mouse actions "Move to next monitor" and "Move to previous monitor".

Best regards.

I am evaluating this product, AMM. I am a current user of ultramon. The first thing i noticed was not being able to drag maximized windows to other monitors and have them maximized on the other monitor automatically. Ultramon does this. I am not interesting in clicking any special buttons on the title bar or using the keyboard. I want to click the titlebar, drag and drop windows on other monitors. I am so quick, my action is like grabbing a ball and throwing it.

So unless there is a new config option i have not seen, I will have to remain with ultramon until you do.

I have 4 monitors in a square/quad arrangement.

Thanks.

Hello gentlemen,

There is a simple way that I use to drag a maximized window to another monitor and keep it maximized. Click on the title bar of the window and drag the window to the other monitor, so that the cursor hits the top of the monitor. Then the window will maximize again because of Aero Snap (under Options > Window Snapping). Maybe the Windows 7 snap will also do this, but I am not using Windows 7, so I do not know.

I hope this helps.

Best regards.

Hello Gentlemen

Mike, You can move the windows much easily without dragging using the mouse actions "Move to next monitor" and "Move to previous monitor" which can be adjusted here: Mouse > Actions.

Best regards.

Two things:

1.  The aero snap doesn't work on a monitor that has a monitor above it.
2.  "move to next monitor" and "move to previous monitor" are not very intuitive when you have monitors stacked.

Mike had a good analogy with grabbing it like a ball and throwing it.  Much more intuitive and faster when you have an arrangement like his or mine (3 across and one stacked on the middle).
