I lost the option to pin Thunderbird to the taskbar also.

Hold on!
Having been a software tester, I wanted a solid baseline, and wanted to review the current state before making any changes.
right-click Thunderbird icon -- no "pin to taskbar" -- expected
shutdown and launch Thunderbird from icon I created -- no "pin to taskbar" -- expected
shutdown and launch Thunderbird from command line -- no "pin to taskbar" -- expected
close all other apps, found "Thunderbird wants to update" window
updated Thunderbird
reboot --------------------
now no matter how I start it, now Thunderbird has "pin to taskbar" option
So ... I did NOT have to change anything in AWM, I just had to upgrade Thunderbird. I was on TB 15 now I'm on 16. Apparently, Mozilla screwed something up in TB that eliminated the option to "pin to taskbar"?
Honestly, I'd like to punch Mozilla in the face for their obnoxious monthly update schedule. I love Firefox and Thunderbird, but I am having a hard time tolerating these ridiculous rapid-fire updates. Especially since they seem to be just trying to copy Apple .... (oh, don't get me started) ...
Now with this last event I'm looking at TheBat as a new email client.

Do you mean the problem has been solved by upgrading to Thunderbird 16 and stopped to occur with AWM 7.2?

Yes. For me, the missing "pin to taskbar" has been fixed simply by upgrading Thunderbird. I am still on AWM 7.2. Now the pin option is there. I checked all my other pinned icons and they all offer "unpin". I don't know if that proves anything, but Thunderbird was the only problem *I* noticed, and now it's fixed.
